Job Opportunity: OR Tech / Surgical Tech

Location: Santa Barbara, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description

• Start times between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM
• Epic charting experience required
• Surgical Services specialty

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year
• High school diploma or completion of a surgical technology program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Certifications & Licenses

• NBSTSA or NCCT certification
• BLS (AHA or ARC only)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on position specifics (verify with employer)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
• Education verification required (not required if highest education is high school)
• Sex offender search must be run within 90 days of start
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start
• Fit test for masks required within 1 year of start and renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days, renewed annually
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April), with mask requirement if declined
• TB questionnaire required within 90 days of start and annually thereafter
• Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and renewed annually

Additional Requirements

• Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and renewed annually
• References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care roles
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and others prior to start
• Religious exemption forms available for certain requirements (e.g., vaccines, facial hair for mask fit) and must be approved

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required for this position

This position is ideal for surgical technologists with at least 2 years of experience, current NBSTSA or NCCT certification, and the ability to meet comprehensive background, health, and compliance requirements for a travel contract in California.
