Job Description

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with a range of behavioral health issues, from simple to complex, in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned group of patients.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments; note changes in physician orders.
• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Monitor physiological data and intervene as necessary.
• Administer medications, regulate and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care.
• Communicate care plans with patients and families during hospitalization and at discharge.
• Inform patients and families about hospital procedures.
• Make referrals for patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks to support staff.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience within the last year, including behavioral and mental health experience.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing.

Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.

Skills

• Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures related to behavioral health.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
• Some computer skills.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
