Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - LTAC Med Tele (Night Shift)
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 or 48 hours per week)
- Unit: LTAC Medical Telemetry
- Experience: LTAC experience preferred
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, RQI acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, RQI acceptable
- NIH Stroke Certification (check unit requirements)
- License: Valid Registered Nurse license for South Carolina, primary source verification required, no pending actions, must not expire within 30 days of start
- Additional Preferred Certifications:
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required if applicable, not mandatory for ER candidates with less than 1 year at facility
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - check unit requirements
- CPI or MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute or Management of Assaultive Behavior) - check unit requirements
- Other certifications as applicable to unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, EFM)
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) setting within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Orientation & Training
- Online orientation modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment
- Pre-assignment testing (medication and arrhythmia tests) required within 72 hours of receiving login info; two attempts allowed
- Annual competencies and core training (Parts I, II, III) required, including OSHA, patient safety, and ethical care
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required annually for RNs
- Pass/Fail testing for medication and EKG required for telemetry unit
Additional Notes
- Candidate must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup
- Background checks and sanction screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC) required and must be updated regularly
- Fingerprinting required if candidate has lived/worked in WV in past 7 years or for certain care settings
- Documentation must be verifiable with clinic info, DOB or last 4 SSN digits
- Floating policy and contractor acknowledgment forms must be signed and updated annually
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with LTAC or telemetry experience seeking a travel contract in South Carolina with a reputable healthcare system.
