Job Opportunity: RN - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)
Location: Normal, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab.
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, strokes, cancer, post-surgical care, and more.
- Fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring adaptability and clinical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nursing duties within the scope of the Clinical Resource Unit.
- Conduct initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans.
- Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, IV venipuncture, blood administration, and post-operative care.
- Document all care accurately using EMR systems.
- Float to various inpatient units and manage care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure quality outcomes.
- Delegate tasks to healthcare team members and validate completion.
- Maintain patient safety through adherence to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
- Provide patient and family education, discharge instructions, and support.
- Participate in team huddles, conflict management, and maintain professional communication.
- Complete bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), with recent CVU experience within the last year
- Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Experience in Mental Health nursing
- Experience in Oncology nursing
- Experience in Orthopedics nursing
- Experience in Rehabilitation nursing and inpatient settings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Proficient in IV venipuncture and blood administration
- Ability to prepare patients for procedures
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (interpreted as months if less than 4, but here the contract length is 13 weeks, so assume at least 2 years experience based on typical RN requirements and complexity of float pool role).
- No explicit prior travel experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
