Job Opportunity: RN - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)

Job Summary

• Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab.
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, strokes, cancer, post-surgical care, and more.
• Fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring adaptability and clinical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nursing duties within the scope of the Clinical Resource Unit.
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans.
• Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, IV venipuncture, blood administration, and post-operative care.
• Document all care accurately using EMR systems.
• Float to various inpatient units and manage care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure quality outcomes.
• Delegate tasks to healthcare team members and validate completion.
• Maintain patient safety through adherence to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
• Provide patient and family education, discharge instructions, and support.
• Participate in team huddles, conflict management, and maintain professional communication.
• Complete bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU), with recent CVU experience within the last year
• Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Experience in Mental Health nursing
• Experience in Oncology nursing
• Experience in Orthopedics nursing
• Experience in Rehabilitation nursing and inpatient settings
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Proficient in IV venipuncture and blood administration
• Ability to prepare patients for procedures

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (interpreted as months if less than 4, but here the contract length is 13 weeks, so assume at least 2 years experience based on typical RN requirements and complexity of float pool role).
• No explicit prior travel experience required.
