Description
Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 4x10 days, 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday-Friday (40 hours/week)
- On-call Requirement: Yes; 1-2 nights per week, one weekend in a six-week period, holiday call possible
- Types of Cases Preferred:
- Right and Left Heart Cath Diagnostic
- PCI, Complex PCI, CTO
- ASA, PFO/ASD, MitralClip, Watchman
- PTMV, TAVR, Peripheral, Vascular
- Number of Cath Lab Rooms: 5 plus Hybrid OR
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- National Certifications Required:
- SCRQSA
- ACLS (American Heart Association (AHA) only)
- BLS (AHA only)
- CCI with RCIS/RCES (preferred) or ARRT (R) with SCRQSA (R) acceptable
- Radiation Badge: Required (must be provided by agency)

Scheduling & Hours
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be broken down to add up to 1 shift
- Block schedule accommodation is at manager’s discretion
- Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis within 60 miles radius
Important Notes
- During hurricane season (June-November, peak in August and September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. Travelers should avoid confirming new or extended assignments during this period if this is a concern.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify)
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
- Copy of Social Security Card or SSN verification
- Annual background check covering last 7 years, including SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- State-specific search for Medicaid excluded providers (South Carolina)
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Last 3 clinical employers verified through a 3rd party vendor (attestation letters accepted if verification not possible)
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA or ARC only)
- PALS (if applicable for pediatric units)
- NRP (if applicable)
- TNCC (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
- Competency Exam (including OR competency if applicable)
- Tech Certification Verification (national certifications as applicable)
- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification required)
- SC RN License or compact licensure required
- Cath Lab Techs may start with SC registration pending full license if SCRQSA license is issued
- NURSYS Verification (for RNs and LPNs/LVNs)
- IV Therapy Certification (for select LPNs if required)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB Questionnaire
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30)
- COVID vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Respiratory safety clearance and fit testing required; PAPR not provided by facility
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay modules prior to start (approx. 2-6 hours depending on location)
- Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into OurDay platform
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
- Radiation badge process managed by agency; candidates cannot start without radiation badge
- Sterile Processing Techs have additional physical assessment and lab requirements (not applicable for Cath Lab Tech)
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a diverse case mix in the Cath Lab. Candidates must meet all certification, licensure, and health requirements prior to start.
