Job Opportunity: CVPICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Unit: Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 depending on patient acuity
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule, including holiday rotation
- Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
- Cancellation: Traveler may be cancelled for one shift every 2 weeks
- Block Scheduling: Possible at manager’s discretion
- Local Radius: 60 miles
- Locals Accepted: Yes
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Pediatric Cardiac ICU
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience (includes Cardiovascular and Pediatric experience)
- Preferred Experience: Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience highly preferred
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- License: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
Certifications Required
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (preferred but not required for this pediatric unit)

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering last 7 years
- SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required (diploma/transcripts accepted as placeholder)
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; SC RN license or compact license mandatory
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- Competency Exams: Medication/Pharmacology competency and general competency exams required
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- Radiation Badge: Not required for this unit
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with follow-up chest x-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccines: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, no instant tests accepted
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 2-6 hours depending on location
- Badge Photo: Clear, passport-style photo required before start
- First Day Instructions: Provided after clearance; adherence mandatory
- Vaccination Documentation: COVID and flu vaccine records must be uploaded into facility system
