Job Opportunity: Medsurg/ED Swing RN 3000
Location: Turtle Lake, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Department: Medsurg with ED Swing
- Facility Type: 25-bed Critical Access Hospital (rural location)
- Patient Population: Mostly geriatric, general rehab post-surgery
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: Team assignment
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts
- Scheduling: Block scheduling with self-scheduling allowed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Alternating holidays
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: May be floated to ER based on experience
Required Qualifications
- Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
- Certifications:
- Required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
- Preferred: PALS, TNCC
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- EMR System: EPIC
- Clinical Skills:
- ER experience preferred
- Understanding of dementia, stroke, skin care, and geriatric patient care
- RN Responsibilities:
- No titration of drips (pump infusion used)
- No requirement to read own cardiac strips
- No advanced respiratory therapy duties beyond troubleshooting CPAP
- Orientation: 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation
Additional Information
- Charge Nurse: Present on each shift, takes team assignments (not individual)
- Support Staff: Nurse Aides/CNAs present on each shift
- Respiratory Equipment: Patient managed CPAP only
- Telemetry: Telemonitor capacity available, no telemetry techs
- Dress Code: Scrubs provided, no specific color required
- Radius Rule: Candidates must be located within 50 miles and not currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
- Return to Office (RTO): Required within 7 days upfront for the 13-week contract; no additional RTO approvals
This position is ideal for RNs with Medsurg and some ED experience who enjoy working with a geriatric population in a rural hospital setting.
