Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Ontario, Ohio
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• Must be willing to float to other campuses (MS-Tele Units) if census drops to maintain hours
• Call required
• Every Other Weekend (EOW) scheduling required
• Minimal or no Return to Office (RTO) preferred
• Must submit all time off requests
• Typical staffing ratio: 1:5

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of recent and consecutive experience in Medical Surgical and Telemetry within the last year in an acute care setting
• At least one completed travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• Knowledge of medication scanning systems

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but BLS and ACLS are mandatory for this role

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Ability to meet physical demands of the position

Additional Requirements

• Must complete unit-specific competency exams and core training annually
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national sex offender, education verification, and fingerprinting (OH BCI and FBI) required and must be updated annually
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually and after any break in service of 2+ months
• Immunizations and health documentation required:

  • TDAP within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccines
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Varicella titer or vaccine
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (masking required if exempt)
• Physical exam within 12 months, updated annually
• Fit mask testing required prior to start and annually thereafter
• Completion of facility-specific onboarding, orientation, and training modules prior to or during the first week of assignment
• Proof of 2 clinical references required

Work Environment & Expectations

• Floating between campuses may be required
• Call shifts and every other weekend coverage expected
• Must adhere to facility attendance and COVID/flu exemption policies
• Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service

This position is ideal for experienced Medical Surgical RNs with prior travel experience who are flexible and able to work in a dynamic hospital environment.
