- Floating: Yes, expected to float between all service lines offered at the facility and sister facilities
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 3+ years in Surgical Services
- First-Time Travelers: Not accepted
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- NBSTSA certification (MUSC does NOT accept NCCT)
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency (not provided by the facility)

Scheduling & Hours
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be broken down but total no more than 1 shift
- Open to accommodating block schedules but not guaranteed based on surgical schedule
- Local radius for travel: 60 miles
- Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
Important Notes
- Hurricane Season: June through November; employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time. Avoid confirming new or extended assignments during peak months (August and September) if this is a concern.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Must include SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- Background check must be run within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
Licensure:
- South Carolina RN license or appropriate state license with primary source verification
- NURSYS verification required for RNs and LPNs/LVNs
- Licensure must be active, unencumbered, and no pending actions
- Temporary "walk-through" licensure process available for SC RN license under certain conditions
Health & Immunizations:
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to work without restrictions
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption; declinations not accepted
- COVID vaccines highly preferred but not required; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella titers or vaccinations required as applicable
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, no instant tests accepted
Additional Health Requirements for Sterile Processing Techs:
- CMP and CBC with differential labs required within 48 hours after signing contract
- Physical assessment form specific for sterile processors signed by licensed provider
Respirator Clearance:
- Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire
Certifications & Competencies
- Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NBSTSA certification for Surgical Techs
- Preferred/As Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - preferred but not required for CST
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - required for ER staff only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as required
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required, not required for ER RNs
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as required
- NIH Stroke Certification - required for ER staff
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and other competency exams as applicable
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2-6 hours depending on location)
- First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay platform modules must be completed before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
- Various facility-specific forms and agreements must be completed prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, contractor forms, job description acknowledgment)
- Proof of 2 clinical references required, with at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Radiation badge process requires ordering prior to start; candidates cannot begin work without it
