Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)
Location: Petoskey, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit (Level 2 North)
- Diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke care
- Fast-paced, challenging environment suitable for both graduate and experienced nurses
- Patient-centered care focused on safety and quality outcomes
- Active Unit Based Council promoting teamwork and a positive work environment
- Supportive orientation for new team members
- Collaborative interdisciplinary care team using clinical pathways and patient education
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on comprehensive assessments
- Pursue lifelong learning through certification, advanced practice, and education
- Demonstrate leadership by sharing knowledge and serving as a clinical resource
- Communicate effectively using SBAR and interdisciplinary methods
- Manage time efficiently and assist team members to enhance overall team performance
- Perform duties aligned with competency-based objectives
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum 2+ years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application required
- Michigan license verification through LARA and Nursys required
- Attendance policy: Strict 3-strike policy for absences or tardiness (more than 20 minutes late) with exceptions for documented illness or hospitalization
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred (not required)
Additional Information
- Nonbillable initial hours: 12 hours
- Overtime, holiday, and callback pay at 1.1x regular rates
- Local traveler policy applies for those living within 35 miles of the facility
