Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Meridian, Idaho
Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- First-time travelers are acceptable (prior travel experience NOT required)
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license required (Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) not acceptable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- For NICU assignments, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification is required
Patient Population and Work Environment
- Patient types: NICU Level IIb, MICU, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics
- Units covered: ER, Inpatient floors including ICU, MICU, MS-Telemetry, PACU, NICU
- Treatments per 8-hour shift: 25-28
- Floating required across multiple specialties and units, including deliveries and initiating CPAP in NICU
- May float to sister facilities within approximately 10-14 miles
Job Duties
- Perform ABGs (arterial blood gases) via radial or brachial sites
- Provide all respiratory treatments and manage respiratory equipment
- Assist with intubation (independent intubation not required)
- Use equipment such as Drager V500, Hamilton, ReVel, V60s, Vapotherm, and EPOC
Scheduling and Shifts
- Shifts:
- Days: 07:00 - 19:30
- Evenings: 11:00 - 23:30
- Nights: 19:00 - 07:30
- Self-scheduling with flexibility required; travelers sign up last and fill staffing gaps
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend (Nights: Friday & Saturday; Days: Saturday & Sunday)
- Holiday rotation participation may be required
- Optional call/standby with 30-minute response time
Orientation
- 1-2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation with a preceptor
- Typically includes 1 day NICU/general and 1 day ICU orientation
Additional Information
- Must be comfortable floating throughout the hospital and potentially to nearby sister facilities
- Dress code: Any color scrubs, clean and professional
- Respiratory Manager and Supervisors available on each shift
- Hospitalist, intensivist, and anesthesia support available 24/7; eICU coverage at night
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Idaho
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
- Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and STABLE
- Experience working with Geriatric, Pediatric, and Adult patient populations
- Demonstrated ability to provide comprehensive respiratory care across multiple units and specialties
