Description
Job Opportunity: Emergency Room RN (Travel)
Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a 23-bed Emergency Room within a large hospital setting.
- Schedule: 36 hours on / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period.
- Must reside within 100 miles of the facility.
- Reliable transportation required due to limited ride-share options.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of current Emergency Room RN experience.
- Large hospital experience required.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- RN License: Kentucky or compact nursing license valid for Kentucky.
- Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card only
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or started series with required follow-up).
- Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination.
- Annual Influenza vaccine (October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption.
- Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or started series with required follow-up).
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (Td not accepted; declinations accepted).
- Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions.
- TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start; if positive, chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (specific panel excluding marijuana/THC).
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Background check within 30 days prior to start, including:
- 7-year county criminal history
- Nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC checks
- Education and employment verification
- Driving record
- Submission packet including cover sheet, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF.
- ARH Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Skills checklist, competency exams, EKG/Telemetry exam, and core competencies completed and renewed annually.
- Two professional references required (one charge or higher, one supervisor).
- Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer.
Additional Notes
- Orientation occurs bi-weekly unless otherwise noted.
- Start date on job posting is the required start date.
- Candidates should not be submitted to more than one job at a time.
