Job Opportunity: PCU RN (Travel)

Location: Beckley, West Virginia
Specialty: RN Step Down / PCU

Job Description

  • Minimum 2+ years current experience in TELE/PCU/Stepdown units required.
  • Patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6.
  • Experience with Meditech EMR preferred.
  • Schedule: 36/48 hours per pay period (no block scheduling).
  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly.
  • Start date is flexible and based on need.
  • Candidates must reside within 100 miles of the facility.

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • Must have a West Virginia RN license or a compact RN license valid in WV.
  • BLS (American Heart Association) – front and back of certificate required if not electronic.
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) – required for all RNs except Psych and True Med/Surg units.
  • NIH Stroke Certification – required for RN specialties except OR and Psych.
  • Nursing license verification through Nursys within 30 days of start.

Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant specialty experience (TELE/PCU/Stepdown).
  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience.

Health & Immunizations

  • COVID-19 vaccine proof or approved religious/medical exemption.
  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer.
  • Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccine series or declination.
  • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer.
  • Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (declinations accepted).
  • Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions.
  • Annual drug screen within 30 days of start (specific substances tested).
  • Influenza vaccine required seasonally (Oct-Mar) or approved exemption.
  • TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start.
  • If positive TB record, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire.

Background & Professional Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days prior to start including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender, SAM, OIG checks.
  • Education and employment verifications required.
  • Social Security trace, OIG search, EPLS, OFAC, SAM, and National Sex Offender checks as part of background.
  • ARH submission packet including cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification.
  • 2 professional references required: one charge or higher and one supervisor reference within the last year.
  • West Virginia APS/CPS check required for clinical staff.
  • Completion of ARH-specific job description, skills checklist, competency exams (including EKG and telemetry), and core competencies.
  • HIPAA, patient rights, safety orientation, bloodborne pathogens, fire safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives training required.
  • Assignment confirmation form must be uploaded within 24 hours of offer acceptance.
  • Employee health attestation form must be completed prior to start.

Schedule & Other Details

  • 36/48 hour schedule per two-week pay period.
  • No block scheduling.
  • Orientation bi-weekly.
  • Start date aligned with job need.
  • Candidates must reside within 100 miles of the facility.

This position is ideal for experienced PCU/Step Down RNs with strong clinical skills, current certifications, and the ability to meet comprehensive compliance and credentialing requirements.
