Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN CVOR) - Travel Assignment

Job Description
- Work in the CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) service line providing surgical interventions for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures.
- Cardiac procedures include coronary artery bypass, valve repair/replacement, aortic dissection, heart transplantation, ventricular assist device placement, Impella or intra-aortic balloon pump placement, adult ECMO, and TAVR procedures.
- Thoracic cases include laparoscopic, robot-assisted, and open procedures.
- Vascular procedures include placement/revision of ESRD grafts/fistulas and endovascular procedures.
- The CVOR has 4-6 ORs including an endovascular suite and can handle up to four concurrent procedures requiring cardiopulmonary bypass.
- Must function independently in a fast-paced surgical environment and be able to “hit the ground running.”
- Schedule: 3 shifts, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM on weekdays (based on department needs).
- Call coverage required after normal business hours and on weekends.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years recent full-time experience as a CVOR circulator in a high-volume hospital setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures.
- Candidates with less experience or requiring extensive onboarding will not be considered.
- Must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.
Prior Travel Experience
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least two prior travel assignments with no training needed).
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Current RN license valid in Texas.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- Specialty competency exam and core competencies completed prior to first assignment and updated every 3 years.
- Color vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
- Various health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years
- TB screening with positive IGRA or PPD results, chest X-ray, and annual questionnaire
- Fit test for respiratory protection annually
- Drug screening: 12 panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Criminal background check, employment verification, education verification, and other standard onboarding checks completed prior to assignment.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to provide a statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment and annually thereafter.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or state ID.
- Must complete onboarding requirements including agency and facility-specific checklists and attestations.
Summary
This is a travel RN position specializing in CVOR nursing requiring a minimum of 3 years of recent experience in a high-volume cardiac/thoracic/vascular OR setting, with prior travel experience mandatory. The role demands high proficiency, independence, and the ability to work extended shifts with call responsibilities. Comprehensive licensure, certifications, immunizations, and onboarding requirements must be met prior to assignment start.
