Description
Job Opportunity: PACU Nurse (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Job Description
- Provide care for patients pre-op, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery.
- Must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-surgical patient care in Phase I recovery.
- Critical care skills required to assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track patient stability or complications.
- Experience in critical care and surgical nursing is highly valued.

Shift/Schedule
- Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
- Possible shifts include Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays.
- Work locations vary between ASU and PACU units.
- On-call shifts 0-3 times per month (8-hour night and 24-hour weekends/holidays).
- No guaranteed hours or shift preference.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Hawaii
- Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings
Additional Information
- Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
- Flu vaccination can be administered during employee health clearance appointment.
Prior travel experience: Not required.
