Job Opportunity: RN OR Circulator - Day Shift
Location: Greeley, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care of patients. The role requires specialized knowledge and nursing skills to provide care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of patients. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self and others under their direction.
Essential Functions
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history, physical exams, diagnostics, and lab data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
- Formulate and initiate individualized plans of care, including discharge plans, in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Implement care plans through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities.
- Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise plans as needed.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
- Participate in research, education, role development, orientation, precepting, and mentoring.
- Promote excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
- May provide relief charge nurse duties and support department workflow.
Physical Demands / Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and stretching.
- Physical agility and quick reaction time to patient care needs.
- Adequate hearing, visual acuity (including color vision), fine motor skills, and eye-hand coordination.
- Ability to assist patients with ambulation and transfers; may lift up to 75 pounds.
- Use of standard precautions due to exposure risk to blood and bodily fluids.
- Effective communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
- Periodic use of computer, phone, and office equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing or higher.
- Current, valid RN license in Colorado (or temporary/compact RN license).
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- PALS certification required within 90 days if assigned pediatric ASC services.
- Experience:
- Core (Full-Time/Part-Time): Minimum 1 year licensed RN experience in OR (other procedural areas considered with approval).
- Licensed RN with no OR experience may enroll in PeriOp101 program with successful completion within 4 months.
- New licensed RN may enroll in PeriOp101 program with successful completion within 4 months.
- PRN: Minimum 2 years licensed RN experience in OR.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional OR or perioperative RN experience is strongly preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct reports.
- Provides peer direction and support to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Nursing (Operating Room)
- Required Years of Experience: 2 years (PRN minimum experience overrides 1 year core experience)
- Prior travel experience: Not specified / not required
This position is ideal for experienced OR nurses or new RNs willing to complete perioperative training.
