Job Opportunity: RN - Emergency Room
Location: Kokomo, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for all Emergency Room patients.
- Must be comfortable and experienced in a charge nurse role.
Contract Length
- 12 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in Emergency Room.
- Charge nurse experience required.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIH Certification
- Ascension CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training, 8-hour course)
Required Licenses and Verifications
- Current RN license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start.
- License/Certificate verification within 30 days prior to start.
Required Exams and Testing
- Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc., minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, completed within 1 year of start, updated annually)
- 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
Required Health and Immunization
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); exemptions accepted with mask requirement.
- Positive PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire.
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred prior to start.
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
Additional Requirements
- Driver’s License or State ID (must be valid and match home state for compact license).
- Professional references: At least two qualifying references prior to first assignment.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of assignment.
- Employment and education verifications completed within 90 days of start.
- Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and updates.
- Badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).
Other Information
- Flu season mask policy applies from October 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
This position is ideal for experienced ER RNs comfortable in leadership roles and meeting comprehensive certification and health requirements.
