Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU RN with Cardiac or CVICU experience)
• Shift: Nights (1800-0630)
• Unit: 20 rooms/beds, nurse-to-patient ratio 1:2
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Floating: May float within scope as needed
• Schedule: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
• On-call: No
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Experience & Skills

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• CVICU experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS certification
• Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Obtain 12 lead EKG
• IV Therapy:

  • Accessing ports
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line and PICC line care/management
  • Starting IVs
• Medication Experience:

  • Continuous IV sedation

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• NIH certification (implied by description)

License Requirements

• Must have an active Illinois RN license (pending licenses not accepted)

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital, Level II Trauma Center
• 372 staffed beds
• Charting system: Cerner
• Parking permit required (no cost)

Additional Requirements

• Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• References: 2 professional references required
• Competency exam and skills checklist required

Notes

• Guaranteed hours may be adjusted with client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
• Candidate must be able to perform core functions without restrictions and be free of communicable disease
• Badge photo required before start
• Candidates must comply with facility-specific policies and complete required documentation within specified timeframes
