Job Opportunity: Progressive Care Unit RN
Location: Great Falls, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 2 months
Job Description
The Progressive Care Unit RN will provide nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on a medical/surgical unit. Patient populations may include pediatrics, pre/post PCI care, pacemaker patients, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical cases.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients
- Caring for patients with central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilation support
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and outcomes
- Acting as a clinical leader and assisting with precepting staff
- Providing direct care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning
- Giving directions to RN, LPN, CNA, Housekeeping, and Dietary staff
The role also supports the Medical Surgical Nursing Unit as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Current Montana RN Licensure
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
- EPNC and TNCC certifications
- Pediatric nursing experience
- Experience in post-heart catheterization care
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with basic office equipment and multiple IV pumps
- Ability to operate advanced medical equipment including arterial lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, and ventilatory support (both invasive and noninvasive)
- Basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation skills
- Knowledge of advanced nursing principles and procedures
- Medication management experience with IV medications such as Heparin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, and Dopamine
