Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Specialty: DMCC - Acute Rehab Unit
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Unit Type: Acute Rehab Unit
- Number of Beds: 29
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day: 5:1
- Night: 6:1
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Neuro, Neurosurgery, Amputations, Multi-trauma, Cardiac, Complex medical (trachs, no vents)
- Required Certifications: BLS (AHA)
- Experience/Skills: Strong Neuro skills required
- RN Responsibilities:
- No titration of drips except heparin
- Attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab (required)
- Telemetry: Tele packs used, but not monitored by RN
- Support Staff: Nurse aides present with 1:9 or 1:10 ratio
- Rehab Services Available: PT, OT, Speech Therapy
- Respiratory Equipment: CPAP/BiPAP at night for sleep apnea; nasal cannula including high flow (no heated high flow)
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Shifts:
- Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday rotation
- Call/Standby: None required
- Floating: Yes, float to LTAC and med-surg units; no float to HAU unless trained
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs; no t-shirts unless approved
Orientation
- 2 days classroom orientation
- 2-3 days/nights with a preceptor
- Training includes QRP and specific rehab documentation
- 12 non-billable orientation hours
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
- BLS certification (AHA)
- Must produce a negative drug screen (drug-free campus)
Additional Notes
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or pay required for the shift
Years of Experience Required: Not explicitly stated; strong neuro skills required (recommend at least 1+ year acute care or neuro experience)
