Travel RN - ICU

Job Description

Seeking a travel RN with ICU experience to support a hospital near San Antonio. The nurse must be comfortable floating to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) and Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) areas as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
• Current Texas RN license or compact license
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• PALS certification preferred but may be negotiable or obtained onsite
• Must be independent and comfortable with ICU skill level

Work Details

• 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required (including holidays)
• Patient ratios typically 1:2, sometimes 1:1 depending on acuity
• ICU beds: 9 (average daily census 6)
• Floating assignments may include Medical, Surgical, IPRU, and possibly ER (non-trauma/non-resuscitation patients only)
• Orientation includes 2 shifts with a preceptor
• Common patient diagnoses: Pneumonia, Sepsis, Acute Renal Failure, CHF, COPD, cardiac drips, post-op abdominal surgery, extubation issues, post cath lab patients, occasional non-intubated pediatrics
