Description
Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech – Neuro OR Tech
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Surgical Tech with Neuro OR Tech specialty for a 13-week contract in a high-acuity teaching hospital setting. The unit is Neurosurgery with 11 suites, handling 400-450 cases per month (20-25 cases per day).
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- BLS certification
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
Work Environment & Schedule
- Unit: Neurosurgery
- Beds: 11 suites
- Shifts:
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Open Monday-Friday 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- Call: 1 call day and 1 call weekend per month
- Weekend and holiday rotation required
- Floor-specific orientation: 1 week in OR
- Floating possible if general surgery background
Patient Population & Cases
- Common diagnoses/procedures:
- Craniotomies
- Tumors
- Carotid procedures
- Spine fusion and lumbar procedures
- Scoliosis
- Shunts
- Brain biopsies
- Deep brain stimulation
- Tumor ablation
Additional Information
- Nurse aides: 70% RNs, 30% CSTs
- Pharmacy and Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Scrub color provided
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma center and a nationally recognized tertiary care and teaching hospital
