Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – DMCC LTAC Med Surg

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Unit Information

• Unit: MedSurg
• Number of Beds: 10
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
• Patient Types: Respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, cardiac patients
• Common Skills Required: PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline care, tracheostomy care
• RN Responsibilities: Titrate drips (e.g., Heparin)
• Charge Nurse: House Supervisor available 24/7 (does not take patient assignment)
• Support Staff: Nurse aides/patient care techs with 1:10 ratio
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow; RNs troubleshoot, RT manages equipment
• Telemetry: Tele/monitor techs present; RNs do not read their own strips

Schedule & Work Requirements

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend and to fill holes
• Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation and to fill holes
• Call/Standby: None currently, but subject to change
• Float Requirements: MedSurg nurses may float to ICU and Acute Rehab occasionally

Orientation

• Orientation: 12 non-billable hours classroom orientation plus 2 shifts on unit with preceptor

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA) required
• ACLS preferred but not required
• Must be able to titrate drips and provide care for PEG tubes, CVC/PICC/Midline lines, and tracheostomy patients
• Drug-free workplace: Negative drug screen required

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Scrub dress code: OSF-approved scrubs and t-shirts only (any color)
