Registered Nurse - Pre Op

Location: Webster, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit Type: Cardiovascular Preparation
Number of Beds: 17
Number of Staff: 9 (Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 8 RNs; No night shift)
Patient Ratios: 3 to 1
Equipment: Dash monitors, EKG machines
EMR System: Meditech
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3 twelve-hour shifts (start times vary between 5:00 AM and 8:00 AM)
No weekends or on-call required

Job Description

Mixed day shifts with early start times
Typical procedures include prepping patients for cath lab, cardiovascular OR, and electrophysiology lab
Recovering patients with moderate sedation from labs
Floating to other areas within the hospital as needed
Close-knit team environment with strong collaboration

Required Skills

IV access
Cardiac monitoring

Preferred Skills:

Previous pre-op experience
Experience in prep and/or PACU

Required Certifications & Licenses

Registered Nurse (RN) License (Texas)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in the specialty

Dress Code

Scrubs in Ceil Blue or Royal Blue

Additional Notes

Unit policies align with hospital-wide policies
No weekend or on-call shifts required

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of Pre-Op nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Current ACLS certification
Current BLS certification
Proficient in IV access
Skilled in cardiac monitoring
