Job Opportunity: RN UP - OR (Operating Room Nurse)
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 20 weeks
Job Description
- Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the operating room unit.
- Implement procedures and theories related to perioperative nursing care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of nursing care for integration with the healthcare team.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
- Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare the OR suite with necessary supplies, equipment, and medications.
- Interview patients using two identifiers (name and birthdate).
- Transport patients safely to and from the OR suite and position/prep patients for procedures.
- Support the surgical team during procedures by responding to requests for supplies, blood, specimens, medications, dressings, etc.
- Provide handoff to receiving RN in PACU or other units after surgery.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois.
- Minimum of 3 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
