Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IMC) - Travel/Contract
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Intermediate Care (IMC) / General Onsite Telemetry
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 Night shifts (1845-0715)
- Average Daily Census: 38 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: Will float within scope to like units as needed
- Block Schedule: Schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- On-call: Not required
- RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
- Guaranteed Hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, including experience within the last year
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience
- Telemetry experience (unit and remote monitoring)
- PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience
- DOU (Direct Observation Unit) experience
- Stepdown unit experience
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Sheath removal experience
- Feeding tube care and management
- Accessing ports
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system
Required Clinical Skills & Experience
Work Setting Experience:
- MS/Telemetry
- Cardiac Telemetry
- PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Telemetry (unit and remote monitoring)
Cardiovascular Case Skills:
- Post Cardiac Angiogram
- Post MI
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath and Surgery
- Sheath Removal, TR band management
Gastrointestinal:
- Feeding tube care and management
Genitourinary/Renal:
- Pre/Post Hemodialysis management
- Renal failure care
IV Therapy/Phlebotomy:
- Accessing ports
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central, peripheral, and PICC line care/management
- Starting IVs
Medication Management:
- Heparin protocols
- Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
- PCA management
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
Neurological/Psychiatric:
- CVA care
- Experience with surgical drains
Respiratory:
- Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- External CPAP/BIPAP
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Non-invasive airway management
Professional Skills:
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and wound vac management
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Cerner electronic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Level I trauma experience preferred
Additional Requirements
Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks required within 30 days of start
Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
Competency & Verification:
- Competency exam required
- Education and license primary source verification required
- NURSYS verification required for RN license
References: Two professional references required
