Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Job Description

• Operate MRI equipment to produce high-quality images for Radiologist interpretation.
• Provide patient care including positioning, procedure information, and executing imaging protocols.
• Navigate EMR/PACS systems (Epic and McKesson PACS).
• Work with GE Signa Artist (1.5T) and GE Signa Architect (3T) MRI scanners.
• Scan a wide variety of patients including routine, critical, under sedation, and anesthesia cases.
• Perform numerous protocols in Neuro, Body, and MSK imaging.
• Safely scan patients with implants such as pacemakers, stimulators, aneurysm clips, etc.
• Work within a Level 1 trauma center environment, scanning both inpatients and outpatients.
• Float within the Medical Center to cover outpatients, inpatients, and Emergency Department patients.

Schedule & Work Environment

• Shifts available:

  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (or 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM depending on department needs)
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM (or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM depending on department needs)
• Weekend requirement: Approximately 1 weekend per month.
• No call or standby required.
• No specific scrub color required; standard solid-colored scrubs expected. Tattoos must be covered.
• Orientation: Approximately 1 week, depending on familiarity with GE MRI scanners.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of MRI experience (highest required years of experience).
• Certifications:

  • ARRT or ARMRIT certification in MRI.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Active Illinois MRI technologist license or proof that application process has been initiated.
• Knowledge of MRI safety guidelines, standard acquisition sequences, and starting IVs.
• Experience operating GE MRI scanners (1.5T and 3T).

Additional Information

• Facility is a drug-free campus; negative drug screen required.
• Department has Registered Radiology Assistants (RRA) support (1 per 8-hour shift).
• The hospital is a large facility with 650+ beds and 5 MRI magnets.
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius.
