Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (IR Tech)

Location: South Bend, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology)
  • Shift: 5x8 Day shift (0700-1530), hours change to 0800-1630 when on call
  • Call Requirements: 1 day per week, weekend call every 3rd or 4th weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Weekend Requirement: On-call weekends only
  • Holiday Requirement: As needed
  • Floating Requirement: None
  • Daily Caseload: 10-15 cases per tech
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Locals Accepted: No, traveler must live at least 50 miles away from the facility

Required Experience

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in Interventional Radiology
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to scrub cases
  • Familiarity with wires
  • Experience with GE and Siemens Fluoro rooms
  • Vascular IR experience including endografts, neurovascular, trauma, and body IR
  • Neurovascular IR experience preferred (stroke thrombectomy facility)

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • State License: Must be active by start date (pending state license accepted if active by start)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (AHA only)
    • BLS (AHA only)
    • Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics (refer to unit job description)

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked in, required within 90 days of start
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
  • Physical exam required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (T-Spots not accepted)
  • TB questionnaire required prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine/opiate)
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start (flu season October–May)

Additional Information

  • Must be able to provide a clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • COVID-19 and flu vaccine exemptions available for medical or religious reasons with proper documentation
  • Candidates must complete facility-specific modules prior to start (approx. 8-10 hours)
  • Facility uses Cerner for charting
  • Scrub color provided

This position is ideal for an experienced Interventional Radiology Tech comfortable with a fast-paced acute care environment and skilled in vascular and neurovascular procedures.
