Job Opportunity: RN - Step Down Unit (PCU/Stepdown)

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on the 3 South Stepdown unit
  • Patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
  • Previous PCU/Stepdown experience required
  • Schedule: 36/48 hours over two weeks (may fluctuate with census and call-ins)
  • Orientation offered bi-weekly
  • Must reside within 100 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • Kentucky RN license or compact RN license valid for Kentucky
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification
  • Nursys verification within 30 days of start

Experience

  • Minimum of 2+ years of nursing experience, with prior PCU/Stepdown experience required
  • No explicit prior travel experience required

Health & Immunizations

  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose of series prior to start)
  • Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccinations or declination
  • Annual Influenza vaccine (October-March) or approved exemption
  • Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose of series prior to start)
  • Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (declinations accepted)
  • TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start
  • Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions

Background & Compliance

  • 2020 ARH Background Check (including education and employment verifications) within 30 days prior to start, with annual updates required
  • Drug screen within 30 days prior to start, annual update required
  • Verification on Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry within 30 days prior to start, annual update required
  • Two professional references required (one charge or higher, one supervisor reference within the last year)
  • Submission packet including cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF

Skills & Competency

  • Unit-specific exam (EKG, telemetry) within one year prior to start, annual update required
  • ARH Skills Checklist and Competency Exam within one year prior to start, annual update required
  • ARH Core Competencies including HIPAA, Patient Bill of Rights, Safety Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Infection Control, Elder Abuse and Neglect, Age Specific Care, Cultural Diversity, Advance Directives (annual update required)

Other Requirements

  • Assignment confirmation form must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
  • Must comply with ARH Employee Health Attestation Form and related health file registration
