Description
Job Summary: Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Day shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Options for 4x12s, 3x12s, or 2x12s available
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 18 months (1.5 years) recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Must have permanent Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- Must be willing to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start
Required Qualifications & Testing
- One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty applying for (Charge RN references accepted)
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation; passing scores required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including capability to safely perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required (must carry while on assignment)
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint result attestation required
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care setting in similar area
- Skills checklist required annually
Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for medication exam preparation
- Baseline competency exams at orientation: medication administration (SafeMedicate) with 90% passing score, ECG interpretation with 80% passing score
- Photo for badge (shoulders up, head on, white background) required for certain roles (not applicable here)
- References: 2 required from employment within 1 year of start, from manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Candidates with gaps in employment or returning to the system may have specific module or reference requirements
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare system.
