Travel RN - Step Down Unit
Location: Waco, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum 3 years of RN Step Down experience required
- Clinical skills and experience with:
- HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula)
- BIPAP
- Stable GTT management
- Post-op day 1 CABG/AVR/MVR
- Cardiovascular & vascular experience including AAA repair
- Thoracic procedures such as lobectomy and CEA
- Cardiac events: NSTEMI, STEMI, ACS, pacers
- Critical care conditions: sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, post DKA, respiratory failure, tracheostomies
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in Texas with primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Completion of specialty competency exams and assessments including:
- Ascension Specialty Exam
- Ascension Core Competencies
- Ascension EKG Exam
- Ascension Epic Test-Out
- Annual or periodic certifications and trainings including:
- NIH Certification
- Ascension Color Vision Test
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical, updated annually)
- Health and immunization requirements:
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer, no declinations)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations)
- Tdap vaccine (valid for 10 years, no declinations)
- TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, annual TB questionnaire
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (updated annually)
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
- Drug screening: 12 panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Background and verification checks:
- Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days prior to start
- Employment verification for past 7 years
- Education verification within 90 days prior to start
- Professional references (at least two) prior to first assignment
- Other onboarding requirements:
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- Driver’s license or state ID (valid, matching address requirements)
- Completion of Ascension-specific onboarding modules and attestations
