Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Winfield, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Critical Access hospital setting
- Ability to jump in after the second shift
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- EMR system: Centricity (preferred)
- Block scheduling allowed on a case-by-case basis
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with high-risk patients
- One completed travel assignment
- Certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Clinical skills including:
- Assist with sterile speculum exam, NST (Non-Stress Test), reflex checks, sterile vaginal exam, and external fetal monitoring (EFM)
- IV insertion and medication administration
- Labor & Delivery management including vaginal deliveries
Skills and Clinical Competencies
- Assist with sterile speculum exam, NST (Non-Stress Test), reflex checks, sterile vaginal exam, and external fetal monitoring (EFM)
- IV insertion and medication administration
- Labor & Delivery management including:
- High-risk and vaginal deliveries
- Forceps/vacuum-assisted deliveries
- C-sections
- Neonatal and newborn care
- Pain management and postpartum care
- Surgical cases such as cervical cerclage
Additional Requirements
- Proof of physical ability to meet job demands (initial physical exam, updated annually)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Drug screening: 9 or 10 panel drug test within the last 12 months
- Flu vaccination or documented declination (year-round requirement)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusion checks
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Completion of onboarding education and compliance training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)
Notes
- Locals are allowed to apply at the same rate
- No radius restrictions for travel
- Must have prior travel experience; first-time travelers will not be considered
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working night shifts in a critical access hospital environment.
