Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: Nights, either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (1845-0715)
- Average Daily Census: 24 patients (24 rooms/beds)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: Will float within scope as needed
- Block Schedule: Schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
- On-call: Not required
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Administration of chemotherapy experience, including:
- Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
- Continuous infusion and IV push administration of chemotherapy
- Oral administration of chemotherapy
- Management and disposal of cytotoxic spills
- Monitoring chemotherapy and recognizing/communicating abnormal lab values
- Accessing ports experience
- Administration of coagulation factors experience

Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches required within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9-panel) required within 30 days of start
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
- TB (2-step PPD, TSPOT, or Qgold)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Competency exam and skills checklist required for all clinical candidates
- Photo for badge required within one week of signing contract
- References: 2 professional references required for all clinical travel candidates
Work Restrictions & Notes
- Ideally no more than 5 days of Return to Work (RTO) restrictions
- Guaranteed hours policy allows client to call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
- Candidates may be called off or floated as needed
This position is suitable for oncology RNs with at least 1 year of oncology experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a Level I trauma, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are accepted.
