Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist

Location: Rockford, Illinois
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Work flexible hours including alternate shifts, weekends, and on-call as necessary.
• Various shift options:

  • 5 shifts of 8 hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
  • 4 shifts of 10 hours (8:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
  • 3 shifts of 12 hours (8:00 AM - 8:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM)
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to minimize anxiety and ensure cooperation.
• Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to protect patients and staff.
• Operate MRI equipment and select appropriate pulse sequences based on protocols.
• Perform venipuncture, maintain venous access, and administer contrast media.
• Assist physicians with interventional procedures.
• Practice aseptic technique and universal precautions.
• Evaluate image quality and manipulate digital data for display and physician review.
• Use radiology information systems (including PACS) to complete records and submit images.
• Provide basic life support when necessary.
• Offer practical instruction to partners and students.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
• Experience as an MRI Technologist (minimum 1 year experience implied by job description).
• ARRT Radiography registration required.
• ARRT MRI registration required.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required.

Additional Information

• 40 hours per week typical schedule.
• May require occasional weekend shifts, holiday rotations, and on-call duties.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and participate in committees and projects.
