Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech
Location: Salinas, California
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Contract Length: Approximately 13 weeks (90 days ≈ 13 weeks)
Job Description
- Perform mammograms and bone density exams daily under approved policies and Radiation Practice Standards (ACR, MQSA).
- Assist Radiologist with needle localization, stereotactic biopsy, and galactogram after training and competency demonstration.
- Obtain/review patient medical history and physician orders before studies; explain procedures and complete documentation.
- Select appropriate technical factors and operate equipment following Radiation Safety Practices.
- Prepare completed mammograms and other studies for interpretation promptly with proper identification and documentation.
- Perform or assist with Quality Assurance activities related to mammography and bone density (including Hologic Selenia and AGFA Printer).
- Report patient condition changes to Lead Technologist or Radiologist; assist with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
- Assist with scheduling patient exams.
- Attend department meetings and in-services regularly.
- Work closely with Lead Mammography Technologist to meet MQSA standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- All travelers will perform screening and diagnostic mammograms and should be able to perform DEXA exams.
- Recent (6-12 months) Epic experience preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a licensed Mammography Technologist (preferred).
- Current California State License – Mammographic Radiologic Technologist (CRT (R) (M)).
- ARRT (M) Certification with documentation of original certification date.
- Completion of initial 40 hours of training, 25 supervised exams, 8 hours modality training in Tomosynthesis, and 8 hours modality training in digital mammography.
- Continuing education: 15 CEUs within 36 months.
- Completion of 200 mammograms within 24 months.
- Bone Density experience preferred.
- BLS/Healthcare Provider certification per American Heart Association standards.
