Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Acute Care
Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility Overview
- Level III trauma center with 198 beds
- Services include medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth, cancer, nephrology, pediatric, behavioral health, day surgery, imaging, and lab testing
- Accredited and recognized for quality care
- Located in a scenic area with outdoor recreational opportunities
Position Details
- Department: Rehabilitation / Occupational Therapy
- Specialty: Acute Care
- Shift: Days, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Thursday to Sunday (option for 5-8 hour shifts Wednesday-Sunday or Thursday-Monday)
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed, 40 scheduled (overtime requires pre-approval)
- Patient Load: 8-12 patients per day, varies by referrals and hours worked
- EHR System: Cerner
- Patient Population: All ages (0-99+)
- Dress Code: Dark gray (pewter) top and black pants; scrubs or polo/button-up; no jeans
- Vaccinations: All required vaccinations must be verified
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience working in an Acute Care setting
- Experience working with a diverse patient population including Neonate, Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients
Job Responsibilities & Notes
- Provide occupational therapy services in an acute rehabilitation setting
- Treat common diagnoses including medical, orthopedic (fractures, elective surgeries), neurological (stroke, spinal cord injury), and trauma cases
- Expected to attend mandatory meetings; if during unpaid lunch break, timecard will be adjusted to paid
- No call requirements
- Hours and days off/holidays are to be determined
- Acute Rehab Department operates 7 days a week
Additional Information
- Lunch break: 30 minutes unpaid (12:30 PM - 1:00 PM)
- No float requirements
- Weekend hours vary
