Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Topeka, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Medical Surgical Nights
  • Hours: Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Float required
  • Some weekends required

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing preferred
  • Previous travel experience preferred (not explicitly required)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, CPI - Crisis Prevention Institute as applicable

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Kansas
  • Primary source online verification required (e.g., NURSYS)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Background & Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Education verification required (highest level)
  • Work history verification for 7 years
  • Driver’s license or state ID required
  • I-9 and E-Verify compliance required
  • Photo for badge required

Additional Notes

  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required as applicable
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
  • Some facility-specific forms and consents may be required prior to start
