Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 day shifts (traveler preference)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Up to 1:6-7
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
- Required Skills: Proficiency in drips including Cardizem, Tridil, Amiodarone
- License: Must have Alabama or Compact RN license in hand at time of application
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (1st time travelers are welcome)
- Radius Rule: Candidate must live at least 90 miles from the facility (no local hires)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Valid Alabama RN license or Compact RN license
- Proof of renewal for any licenses expiring during the assignment before start date
- NURSYS verification required
- Background check: 7-year criminal history, SS trace, sex offender registry, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks (all within 30 days of start)
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start (instant/rapid tests not accepted)
- Physical exam: Initial and updated annually
- Fit mask test: Annual, must be completed prior to start (specific approved masks only)
- Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Flu vaccination required for all placements starting on or after 9/15; no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions require facility form and mask-wearing)
- COVID vaccine is voluntary
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references within last 12 months (up to 18 months if necessary)
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable (including medication/pharmacology competency)
- Completion of facility-specific modules prior to orientation (no time to complete during orientation)
- Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot with light background, no nose rings, must be submitted within 72 hours of signing
- Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must bring a valid driver’s license matching the name on their RN license on the first day
- Name on driver’s license, social security card, and RN license must match exactly; discrepancies must be resolved before start
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
- NIH Stroke Certification required (completed through facility after clearance; must be current and renewed annually)
- Core exams I-III from Prophecy highly preferred; HIPAA attestation required
- No prior permanent employment at this facility within the last 10 years
This position offers block scheduling and flexibility in shift preference, ideal for RNs with at least one year of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing who are comfortable managing higher patient ratios and drips. First-time travel nurses are encouraged to apply.
