Description
Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float - Registered Nurse
Location: Fayetteville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Details
- All ICU/IMCU units
- Patient diagnoses include but are not limited to: Pneumonia, Sepsis, Renal issues, Pancreatitis, General surgeries pre/post, Orthopedics, COPD, COVID-19, GI issues, and Sickle Cell Crisis
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- No on-call required
- Floating within facility and scope of practice
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in critical care
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for the state of Georgia
Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for critical care specialties
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) may be required depending on unit assignment; verify based on clinical area
Compliance & Screening
- Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final approval
- Full compliance with all documentation and credentialing required to start on time
- Background check, education verification, and licensure verification must be current and completed prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months required
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days required
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity: MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly recommended), Flu vaccine or declination
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU/IMCU and related units (3 attempts allowed)
- Color blindness test required
Orientation & Work Expectations
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Return to orientation (RTO) maximum of 7 days if needed
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day

- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Floating assignments within the facility based on scope of practice
- References and skills checklist required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of critical care experience looking for a travel contract in Georgia with a reputable healthcare system. Prior travel experience is not required.
