Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work both in the department and mobile settings.
  • Perform quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under supervision to ensure accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Participate in teaching and research related to nuclear medicine.
  • Utilize departmental resources efficiently to ensure timely and accurate exams with minimal risk and cost to patients.
  • Address age-specific needs of patients served.
  • PET/CT attenuation correction covered if certified as a nuclear medicine technologist (attenuation only, not diagnostic).

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nuclear medicine program.
  • Current certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or The American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • Knowledge of computers interfaced with gamma cameras.
  • Knowledge of radioactive materials, doses, and flood sources.
  • Experience with patient monitoring and radiation safety equipment.
  • Ability to safely work with radioactive materials.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior clinical experience.
  • Ability to effectively handle patients and families across all age groups.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of nuclear medicine gamma cameras, both stationary and portable, from various manufacturers.

Additional Notes

  • Nebraska does not require licensure for Nuclear Medicine Technologists, but certification by a national organization (ARRT or NMTCB) is mandatory.
  • No explicit mention of required years of experience or prior travel experience.
