Job Opportunity: Family Birthing Center Nurse (Nights)
Location: Salida, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) needed for the Family Birthing Center to independently assess and evaluate labor and neonate patients. The RN will collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to develop and implement care plans, provide education, and maintain safe and effective care throughout the episode. The role includes patient advocacy and requires the ability to perform specialized nursing functions related to labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
Essential Duties
- Provide direct patient care and monitor responses during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
- Assist and educate mothers on breastfeeding and infant care.
- Promote wellness for mothers during pregnancy and after delivery through ongoing education.
- Document all patient events and education accurately in medical records.
- Communicate patient conditions to physicians and nursing supervisors.
- Collaborate with nursery nurses in mother/baby care.
- Assist physicians with procedures and support nurse manager as needed.
- Support emergencies in other nursing units when possible.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in the Family Birthing Center unit.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- At least 2 years of LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) nursing experience.
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent use of hands and arms; ability to stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch regularly.
- Occasional walking and sitting; ability to detect odors.
- Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Visual acuity including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
