Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied


Job Summary

The Surgical Technician assists the healthcare team during the intra-operative period, focusing on preparation and handling of surgical instruments and equipment, and assisting the surgeon during procedures. The role requires knowledge of specific surgical procedures, prioritization, planning, and problem-solving in a dynamic environment. The Surgical Tech must respond immediately in urgent or emergency situations and apply aseptic technique and medical terminology knowledge in patient care.


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Experience as a Surgical Technician
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain aseptic technique during surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes
  • Care for, prepare, handle, and maintain surgical instrumentation
  • Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts consistently according to policy
  • Adhere to professional standards of practice

Generally speaking, Host Healthcare doesn't always have the highest rate on the market. Having gone with competing agencies in the past, I have often been disappointed and unsupported and ultimately found it wasn't worth the small pay bump
