Job Description

Seeking highly motivated critical care Registered Nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity critical care environment. The unit cares for some of the most critically ill patients, primarily focusing on cardiothoracic surgery (open heart recovery) and neuro/neurosurgery. The team also provides ICU-level care for COVID-19 patients, including those requiring ECMO.

Unit Details

• Unit Capacity: 15 beds
• Patient Population: Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac Transplant, Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiogenic Shock, Cardiomyopathy, Arrhythmias, Post Cardiopulmonary Arrest, Post Ventricular Assist Device Placement
• Patient Age Range: Adolescents through late adults (14 - 60+)
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2

Contract Length

• 12 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AHA required)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (AHA required)
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
• Successful completion of a proctored cardiac rhythm test
• Nursys license verification within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to start
• Completion of required onboarding and competency assessments, including but not limited to:

  • Color Vision Test
  • Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.)
  • EKG Exam
  • Cerner Test-Out
  • Skills Checklist (clinical specialty)
• Required immunizations and health screenings:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • Tuberculosis screening (PPD or IGRA with chest X-ray if positive)
  • Fit Test for respiratory protection (annual)
• Drug screening: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start
• Background checks and verifications:

  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry
  • Employment verifications (past 7 years)
  • Education verification
• Valid driver's license or state ID (must meet address requirements)
• Health statement or physical exam prior to assignment and updated annually
