Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (IMC/Intermediate Care Unit)
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 Night shifts (1845-0715)
- Average Daily Census: 38 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: Will float within scope to like units as needed
- Schedule Flexibility: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- On-call: No
- Pending License: Not accepted; must have active Illinois RN license
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of Intermediate Care experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Experience in Telemetry, PCU (Progressive Care Unit), DOU (Direct Observation Unit), Stepdown, and Med Surg/Telemetry settings
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring
- Skills in sheath removal and TR band care
- Experience accessing ports and arterial line management
- Blood product administration experience
- Central and peripheral line care and management experience
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA acceptable)

Additional Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusions within 30 days of start
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good physical and mental health, ability to perform job functions without restrictions
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Immunization and health documentation including TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Professional references (2) required for travel and acute care candidates
- Badge photo required before start
- Parking permit required (no cost)
Notes
- Candidate must have no pending Illinois license; active license required before start
- Candidate may be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
- Floating to similar units may be required to meet facility needs
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of IMC/Telemetry experience, comfortable working night shifts in a Level I trauma, Magnet hospital setting, and proficient in cardiac and critical care nursing skills.
