Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Morehead City, North Carolina
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA certification required.
- Additional Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for PCU, RRT, CCU, ER, and OR RNs (not applicable for RRT specifically unless stated).
- PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, and others are not specifically required for RRT unless working in those specialty areas.
- Note: Verify specific certifications with the recruiter as some may be required depending on assignment area.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background Check:
- 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start (90 days if break in contract).
- Must cover all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Instant background checks not accepted.
- E-Verify, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks: Required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
- Education Verification: Transcript or diploma required; can clear with pending but must be collected immediately.
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Employment Application: Complete application/resume required.
- Performance Evaluations: Required if worked with the agency over 1 year; internal evaluation if over 2 years.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Must be completed within 90 days of start and updated annually. Must include height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse.
- TB Testing:
- True 2-step PPD (one within 30 days of start), or Q Gold/T-Spot within 12 months.
- If positive, chest x-ray and TB symptom questionnaire required.
- TB questionnaire must be updated annually.
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: 2 doses of vaccine or positive titers (titers must include reference ranges). Candidates can clear with series started.
- Hepatitis B: Completed vaccine series with immune titer or declination form required.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Optional but recommended (Tdap within 10 years).
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start (90 days if break in contract). Instant acceptable.
- Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31). Medical and religious exemptions allowed with facility-specific approval; exempted candidates must wear masks.
- COVID Vaccination: Preferred to have initial series collected.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for Badge: Headshot photo required.
- Completion of Facility Forms:
- Medical History Form
- PAPR & Fit Questionnaire (must be completed and sent directly to facility)
- Hazardous Drug Form
- Acceptable Use Policy
- TB Symptom Questionnaire
- Color Vision Test (must be completed within 2 weeks of start)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required.
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
- Competency exams and core testing as applicable by specialty/profession.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must provide ID confirming residence outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.
- Candidate clearance depends on completion and submission of all required documents and forms prior to start.
- Modules will be sent by the facility before start date and must be completed prior to starting work.
