Description
Registered Nurse Circulator
Location: Hermiston, Oregon
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide perioperative nursing care during intraoperative surgical procedures. Deliver safe, effective, and quality patient- and family-centered care in the operating room and perioperative services. Act as patient advocate and supervise assigned personnel. Participate in on-call rotation for the Surgery Unit.
Essential Job Functions
- Direct, control, and plan perioperative activities independently.
- Evaluate and make decisions based on measurable criteria.
- Implement plan of care including:
- Protect patients from injury related to surgical environment hazards.
- Prevent retained surgical items.
- Ensure correct surgical site, side, and level.
- Manage patient specimens per policy.
- Communicate patient status across care continuum.
- Administer medications safely.
- Maintain wound and tissue perfusion.
- Support multiple body systems and maintain fluid/electrolyte balance.
- Prevent surgical site infections.
- Protect patient rights, dignity, and privacy.
- Provide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards.
- Document nursing care accurately and legibly.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines.
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Maintain required competencies and pursue professional growth.
- Act as patient advocate maintaining confidentiality.
- Support organizational mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in required education programs.
- Float to other qualified departments as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (preferred)
Licenses/Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
Preferred:
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room)
- Peri-op 101 course
- CRASE training (required if assignment extends beyond 6 months)
Experience
- No prior experience required
- Preferred: Previous RN circulator experience, Peri-op 101 course, scrub experience

- Not required for this position
