Description

Registered Nurse - Surgery

Location: Reno, Nevada
Employment Type: Travel
Shift: Nights, Monday - Thursday, 8:45 PM to 7:15 AM
Weekly Hours: 40 hours guaranteed
Call Requirements: Call is required


Unit Description

  • Level II Trauma Operating Room with 18 ORs
  • Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics
  • Common procedures include trauma, neurosurgery (ACDF, spinal fusions, craniotomies), Da Vinci Xi robotics, urology, vascular, open heart, general surgery, trauma orthopedics, pediatrics, minimal plastics, and ENT

Job Purpose

  • Provide optimal patient care using nursing knowledge and skills throughout the entire episode of care
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing services to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families/caregivers
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients, addressing cognitive and psychosocial needs specific to the population served
  • Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as needed
  • Maintain high standards of quality and safety in a fast-paced, high-volume trauma center environment

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Nevada
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Trauma experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications

Additional Information

  • Work environment is extremely busy and fast paced, serving a large regional area
  • Level II trauma center with stroke accreditation
  • Hospital has approximately 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds
  • Patient volume and pace are comparable to a Level I trauma center
