Travel RN - Med Surg
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Med/Surg, Oncology, Neuro, Palliative Care
- Shift: Night
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
- Weekend Hours: Every third weekend
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: Float when needed
- Patient Ratios: 6:1
- Unit Beds: 41
- Equipment: Alaris IV pumps
- EMR System: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alabama
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Oncology, Neurology, and Palliative Care
- BLS certification
- Skills:
- IV insertion
- Foley catheter insertion
- Nasogastric tube (NGT) placement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Med/Surg patient care
Unit & Patient Population
- Patients with medical-surgical, oncology, neurological, and palliative care needs
Work Environment & Culture
- Personality fit: Displays the 4 Cs — commitment, curiosity, communication, connection
- Dress code: Navy scrubs; fleece is not acceptable attire

Generally speaking, Host Healthcare doesn't always have the highest rate on the market. Having gone with competing agencies in the past, I have often been disappointed and unsupported and ultimately found it wasn't worth the small pay bump
