Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor and Delivery, High Risk)
- Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to postpartum unit
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: No (must be outside 100-mile radius)
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- On-call: No
- RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience working with high-risk patients
- Experience with cesarean births
- Experience with postpartum tubal ligations
- Experience with dilation and curettage (D and C)
- Experience with cerclage placement and removal
- Experience with waterbirth
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system

Required Background and Health Documentation
- Criminal background check within 1 year of start date (including MN statewide search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B: proof of immunity or vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella: proof of immunity or vaccination series (no exemptions accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year (not required for client clearance)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
Additional Requirements
- MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no pending fingerprints allowed)
- Completion of facility-specific pre-orientation online modules within 72 hours of assignment acceptance (approx. 11.5 hours for L&D RN)
- Passport-style photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required annually
- Skills checklist required annually
Work Environment and Other Notes
- Parking: Night shift parking free in ramp after first day
- Scrub color provided by unit
- Must be able to float to postpartum unit as needed
- This is a travel/contract position with guaranteed hours subject to cancellation policy
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with strong clinical skills in high-risk OB care and proficiency in Epic EHR, seeking a travel assignment in a Level 3 trauma teaching hospital setting.
