Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU
Location: Richland, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Position floats internally between departments; flexibility required.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend per collective bargaining agreement.
- No on-call required.
- Shift assignments (day or night) are typically known 1-2 weeks in advance.
- Expected patient ratios vary based on campus acuity.
- Experience required in Level 3 NICU and Level 2 Adult ICU.
- Agency staff are generally placed on consistent shifts for the entire contract duration.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Washington.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Adult patients.
Work Schedule
- Weekend shifts every other weekend.
- No block schedules required.
- No on-call duties.
- Shift (day or night) assigned for the contract duration.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccine or declination.
- Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates.
- Fit mask testing required annually (3M 1860, 1860S, 1870+ or regionally approved alternatives).
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
Training and Modules
- Completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules annually via LMS platform.
- Epic system training modules required for certain regions.
- Float policy acknowledgment required.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be flexible to float between units internally.
- Agency staff are generally assigned consistent shifts (day or night) for the contract duration.
- No 48-hour workweek approval.
- First-time travelers are accepted.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity NICU and adult ICU environment with a supportive scheduling structure and comprehensive compliance requirements to ensure patient and staff safety.
