Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist - NICU

Location: Richland, Washington

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Position floats internally between departments; flexibility required.
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend per collective bargaining agreement.
• No on-call required.
• Shift assignments (day or night) are typically known 1-2 weeks in advance.
• Expected patient ratios vary based on campus acuity.
• Experience required in Level 3 NICU and Level 2 Adult ICU.
• Agency staff are generally placed on consistent shifts for the entire contract duration.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Washington.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
• Experience working with Adult patients.

Work Schedule

• Weekend shifts every other weekend.
• No block schedules required.
• No on-call duties.
• Shift (day or night) assigned for the contract duration.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or declination.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
  • COVID vaccine or declination.
• Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates.
• Fit mask testing required annually (3M 1860, 1860S, 1870+ or regionally approved alternatives).
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
• Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.

Training and Modules

• Completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules annually via LMS platform.
• Epic system training modules required for certain regions.
• Float policy acknowledgment required.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be flexible to float between units internally.
• Agency staff are generally assigned consistent shifts (day or night) for the contract duration.
• No 48-hour workweek approval.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
